Phenomenology I thought this reading was harder than past readings, but it still contained a lot of interesting material. I was surprised by the number of things that can affect our sense of being; but, once I started reading on different theories, I could not help but feel that there are many more influences the paper could have explored. For example, culture, race, religion, and gender are all things that can affect self-being and perhaps even change! If a person changes their religion or culture, how does their self being change? I felt that many of the approaches to phenomenology described are incomplete. Husserl stated that all consciousness is intentional, but I am not quite ready to accept that.
